In a declining America, abandoned neighborhoods have been repurposed as walled labor colonies. Our heroine Fan, a fisherwoman who lives in B-more (Baltimore) leaves the relative safety of her labor camp city to search for her boyfriend, who has gone missing. Her journey becomes Homerian legend. Exoloring themes of collapse, colonialism, race and environmentalism with lovely prose. A finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award.
